A specific set of values and beliefs form the foundation on which HEPS is built. The organisation’s principles will shape its conduct and behaviour.

The Values of HEPS
HEPS members, staff and volunteers are expected to live up to the following values:
- Equality; Treating all people equally irrespective of gender, age, ethnicity, religion or socio-economic status
- Integrity; Speaking the truth based on facts
- Respect; Appreciating opinions and views of others irrespective of their background
- Responsibility; Empowering and encouraging people to make informed choices and to be accountable
- Fairness; Acknowledging the same human rights for every human being and expecting others to do the same
- Justice; Obeying the law and expecting others to do the same

The Beliefs of HEPS
- Respect of life and human dignity
- ccess to health is a human right and should be accessable for all people
- ealthcare is not only a responsibility of the government; every person has a responsibility for his/her own health
The Principles of HEPS
- Use of dialog instead of conflict
- Honesty (working in good faith to ensure health for all)
- Transparency (all actions and records open to scrutiny of stakeholders)
- Accountability (for resources and actions)
- Neutrality (non political, non-ideological)
- Non-profit making
- Non-discriminating (no leanings to particular religion, ethnic group, tribe, race or beliefs)
- Adherence to mission (HEPS will not accept support that compromises access to health)
- Openness (HEPS shall remain open to all new members, who are committed to HEPS values and beliefs, in a non discriminatory way)
